So often we go to our closet and try to decide which coat we are going to wear for the day. Did you know there are many people, young and old, in our own back yards that do not have ANY coat to reach for to keep themselves warm? Clover Hill be collecting gently used coats of any size (from babies to adults) to be donated to The Caring Place, in Allentown. Last year The Caring Place supplied over 2,000 coats to those in need, so lets all work together to replenish their stock. The Caring Place is a youth development center that reaches out to youth in the Lehigh Valley who may be facing adversity. The Caring Place enables young people to overcome the pressures and disadvantages of their environment. For your donation of a coat Clover Hill will offer you a toasty warm 10% discount on your wine purchase (20% on case purchases) throughout this week of giving.

Murry, The Look Writer Amanda Dietrich Zeigler, Miss Must Haves Christin Kelley and BCL Features Writer Kristin Kramer will help you pick the perfect sparkle for that special someone in your life, or to put on your own wish list. The FREE event will feature musical entertainment by Lauren Haymore, Food from Berkshire Deli, Spirits from Pinnacle Ridge Winery, Sweets from The Frying Dutchman Donut Shop and Floral Decorations from Kutztown’s Jackie and Daughter Flower Shop will add to the holiday spirit. Attendees can create a digital holiday wish image he or she can send to those who may have him or her on their shopping list, enter to win a 1-year Sorrelli shopping spree and more! You are warmly invited to Christmas on the Farm to share the many holiday traditions of the Pennsylvania Germans. For the kids we have farm animals, cookie decorating, pine cone bird feeder making, and much more! The Belsnickel, the Pennsylvania German counterpart to St. Nick, will visit with the children in the Schoolhouse, making certain they’re on their best behavior. The historic buildings on the grounds will be dressed in their holiday finery, and filled with many demonstrators and artisans. Set your eyes on our many decorated Christmas trees and Christmas Putz, a miniature village and manger scene beneath the Christmas tree, a Pennsylvania German tradition. Smell the aroma of Pennsylvania Dutch hearth-cooked food in the kitchen. Listen to the sweet music of the Carolers, as they roam the farm singing classic Christmas tunes in the Pennsylvania German dialect. Craftsmen from the Reading Berks Guild of Craftsmen will sell their wares and demonstrate their arts in the Corrigan log cabin, where you will find the most unique gifts to give this holiday season. The Old Time Plow Boys will have their kitchen open, so be sure to stop by and get a warm bite to eat. They also will have farm equipment demonstrations throughout the day.

Let Clover Hill help you get into the holiday spirit. Join us for our annual holiday open house. Craig Thatcher will be playing from 12-5pm and Chef Nathan Grube will be on site preparing tapa style small plates for $6 per plate. Making a return appearance will be Unique Pretzel Bakery of Reading, PA. Similar to Clover Hill, Unique Pretzels is family owned and has grown to their sixth generation. Plus, not new to Clover Hill but new to our Breinigsville location will be Lori Savidge of Lorilee Baskets. Lori has been weaving very beautiful and unique baskets for about 20 years. She has a signature basket which she has curled reed that looks to be a cluster of grapes hanging from the basket. So between all the wine and merchandise already at Clover Hill Winery, plus the pretzels (including chocolate covered) from Unique Pretzel Bakery and handmade baskets from Lori of Lorilee Baskets we will certainly help you get a jump start on your holiday shopping. We will also feature a new Holiday Punch which we will sample and sell by the glass. There will be a featured wine of the day of which Clover Hill will donate $1 for every bottle sold to the Mason Shaffer Foundation. So come out spend a little time shopping and the rest of your afternoon relaxing to music by Craig Thatcher. Don’t forget to bring a gently used coat for our Coat Drive to receive a discount on your wine purchase. Have a Safe and Happy Holidays from everybody at Clover Hill.

Kutztown University - PA German Cultural Heritage Center
A Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas, our only night-time event, will feature lantern-lit tours of the farmstead, traditional crafters, carollers, and a Christmas cookie and hot cider sale. You won't want to miss how wonderful the site looks by lantern in its holiday finery. There will also be a bonfire to keep you warm before or after your tour while you're enjoying your cookies and cider! Be sure to keep an eye out for the Belsnickel.
